Printmaking, Art, Life

Final of the achromatic woodcut (above). Now to transfer and shellac!

Apparently Endi only liked my stupid monotypes of the picture because he hung those up and gave me back my other ones (which were way cooler but messier too I suppose). I'll post those images once I get the change to scan/photograph them.

Grizzly Bear video for "Knife"

It's quite surreal and I really like it. I will post lots of inspiration videos because I am starting to gather ideas for my own :)

I've already made myself a whole new to do list. Things come and go super fast around here. I can barely keep up with what's due tomorrow.

Achromatic Woodcut

So I'm working on a design for an achromatic woodcut and the assignment is to use a floral pattern with a self portrait to convey something about yourself. I have a self portrait I like, but I'm lost as to what flowers I should use for the background. Too bad I have to have this done and ready to transfer in 6 hours...

Welcome back to the art school. Here are 3,984,723,984,729 projects.

Okay okay. I meant to start using this seriously for art work when I got back to school and I forgot until just now when I was cleaning out my bookmarks and I saw Pete's whole thing about his wine decanter/blender. So...here goes the catch up to tell you what I've been working on!

Printmaking-We did some monotypes and they frankly drove me quite crazy. You only get to create the image once, plus a ghost image, and then it's gone. That does have a nice quality to it I suppose, but I found it to be very static and unappealing when I was using a photo. Then I have a six and a half hour breakdown and just started making random stuff and drawing myself from a mirror and I think I came out with some successful prints. Now we're working on achromatic woodcut prints and it has to be a self portrait with a floral print that shows our inner self. I was like...ummm WHAT?!? when I first started, but now I have inspiration:

I want to do a kind of farther away shot like the beginning of the video but then go in and do all these little detailed drawing of things morphing on my face. Also, I wanted to use newspaper to make my "floral" background pattern. It's going to be a lot of carving, but I like to make as much work as possible for myself apparently so...that's life!

CFC 2-Camouflage. More information to come later. Also, volunteering? I need to come up with a list. Here's the list so far:
-Big Brother/Sister of Washtenaw County https://aim.bbbs.org/einquiry/einquiryzip.aspx
-AnnArborONE http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AnnArborONE/

TMP 3-We've done a mini project and a big one and I still have to print out and make my flipbook, but I'll upload my video for objects in motion. I'm not sure what happened to the other one actually :(

ADP 3- WAY TOO MUCH RANDOM WORK. DO YOU HEAR ME? I'm going to go spend an hour with a tree and write a 3 page paper on it. WHAT? Also, let me just catalog EVERYTHING I own. Sounds like a really REALLY fun idea. Woo.

Spanish 275-I'm going to die but I wrote my ladder story in Spanish as a short story, which is pretty cool if you ask me.

Penny Stamps-Michael Moore. Enough Said.
